Milton High School pulled off many upsets last season as they went on to win the last ever state championship. This included wins over Colquitt County, Grayson, and Walton. Winning the championship incredible, but when you win you are no longer the underdog, now you become the top dog. Defending their crown will be no easy task facing 3 top 100 teams in MaxPreps rankings.
They will have to come out swinging as they open the year at home facing Buford. Ranked 45th at the end of last season, Buford los5 three 5 star recruits but still returns most starters including multiple ranked prospects.
Their next game will be in Florida as they play Florida powerhouse and number 55 in the nation American Heritage.
They will return back to home to play Alpharetta. Alpharetta are no push over lead by Ethan Barbour, a 4 star tight end committed to UGA.
They then go to Blessed Trinity and breakout class of 2027 star DJ Jacobs. BT went 9-3 last year and made it to the 2nd round with a relatively young team.
They then play Chattahoochee for Feeder Night celebrations.
They then head on a big 3 game road streak starting off by playing Seckinger. Then, they play a big game vs Lanier to start off October. Lanier went 9-3 last year making it to the second round of playoffs. To close off the road streak they play arguably their toughest game of the season vs Gainesville. Gainesville finished last season ranked top 70 in MaxPreps rankings.
They close out with two home games, Homecoming vs Johns Creek, and closing it out with Senior Night vs Roswell.
Milton have one of the hardest schedules in Georgia next season, but they will be the top dog in most if not all these games. Lead by rising seniors 4 star qb Luke Nickel (Miami commit) and 4 star wr CJ Wiley (top offers UGA, FSU, and Alabama) Milton will be primed and ready for a repeat run at state, this time going down one classification from 7A to 5A (Georgia got tide of 7A so 6A next season will be the same as 7A this past season).
