Christian and Alexander Ward are two young brothers (Christian is a rising junior and Alexander is a rising sophomore) who are on the rise in the peach state.
Christian is a 3 star in the class of 2026, he is a freak of nature standing at 6’3 and runs a 4.4/ 40. Last season for Carrollton, he caught 5 TDs and 362 yards. This was on a loaded Carrollton team that had multiple 4 stars and 3 star receivers. He has been rising on many recruiting boards and over the offseason has picked up SEC offers from Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and UGA.
His brother, Alexander also runs a 4.4/40, however is a little shorter being 6’1, which is still solid. Last season, he was a freshman last season and didn’t start the season on varsity. Even as a freshman on a loaded team Alexander was able to crack varsity and played pretty well in his game time. Since then, he has picked up offers from Georgia State, UConn, and Bethune-Cookman.
The pair are transferring to Walton who just went to the Championship game last season. Walton lost their 3 leading receivers; Cam Lloyd (Jax State), Hunter Teal (Miami of Ohio), and Wyatt Sondermann (Jax State). Walton will also need to find who will replace QB Jeremy Hecklinski, who was MaxPreps Georgia Player of the Year (and was a finalist for National Player of the Year) who graduated to Wake Forest. The competition will come down to rising senior Kaeden Gilstrap, Junior Palmer McRaney, Sophomore CJ Jordan, or Freshman Person Degala. The leading receivers amongst returning players are Max McRaney and Jude Cascone.
The Ward brothers and Walton will be must see TV next season for Walton as they look to defend their region title and make another State Championship run. Their first game for Walton will be their spring game on May 16th vs East Paulding, and their first official game will be part of the Corky Kell Classic vs Brookwood on August 17th.
