The Kell High School Longhorns are one of the top athletic programs in the peach state. Having produced many D1 athletes across many sports, Kell have become arguably the best basketball school in the state over the past decade. Even producing eventually top 3 NBA pick Scoot Henderson. However, they are also one of the best football schools, producing a plethora of top talent of the past few years. This year looks to be no different as they continue their push towards a state title.
They will have many challenges this season including making a long journey to Valdosta to play Lowndes. They will also have to play tough schools like Sequoyah, Wheeler, and Colombia. One thing that is in their favor is that they will be playing in a 5 team region. Despite this, their region is one of the hardest in 4A, playing BT, Westminster, and others.
They will also have to deal with losses to key players like 3-star defensive back Cedric Franklin, 3-star receiver Peyton Zachary, and Boogie Green. However, this team still has many stars in the likes of Jalen Willaims, Monnie Gibson, Zayd Rogan, and many others.
At the helm, Kell will be led by coached by Coach Bobby May, one of top coaches in the state. Also, the Longhorns will have one of the top staffs in the peach state on both offense and defense.
Kell’s season ended last year valiantly vs eventual semi-finalists Cass 28-14. Also, they added another region title to their belt before the region realignment this year going 6-0 in region play (9-2 overall).
Behind their strong team and coaching staff, the Kell Longhorns look to be in prime position to take it all the way in 2024.
