Football is back! It’s finally that time of the year again! This week marks the first week of Georgia High School football. With it, GHS Sports News presents our Top 5 games to watch this week in the Peach State (These are opinion based, all games are going to be equally exciting)!

5- 23. Collins Hill at 5. Grayson

Our first game takes us to Grayson High School as they host the Collins Hill Eagles. This game features some of the top defensive players in the state including Grayson’s Ant Davis and Tyler Atkinson, and Collins Hill’s Deuce Gerald and Ketrell Webb. The Rams made it all the way to the semi-finals last year in 7A and are looking to run in back this year with a similar roster. Similarly, Collins Hill had a good season last season making it to the round of 16 in 7A. This is certainly going to be a good game for any fans in the area.

4- 9. North Gwinnett at 21. McEachern

Our 4th game takes us to Mercedes-Benz Stadium at the Corky Kell Classic. This game will be between two teams who have faced each other almost every year for the past decade. McEachern will come after capturing a region title last year and returning stars like Running Back Jayreon Campbell. For North Gwinnett, they had another good year last year despite having a very young team. The exceptions for North Gwinnett are as high as ever this season with their own set of young star like 2027 Linebacker Jake Godfree. The game will be the 2nd game of this years addition of the Corky Kell Classic

3- 14. Westlake at 10. Langston Hughes

The 3rd game will take us to Sewenne, where Langston Hughes will take on Westlake. The two powerhouses will likely be going blow for blow in this one. This will be Langston Hughes’s first game after loosing star Quarterback Air Noland, however Christian Langford will certainly be up to the challenge, along with his star studded supporting cast of guys like star back Carysn Baker, Lineman Dontrell Glover, and many others. On the other side Westlake is lead by their stars including Tennessee commit wide Reciever Travis Smith and lineman Juan Gaston. Overall, these two giants will be apart of a must watch game this Friday.

2- 1. Carrollton August 16th at 19. Woodward Academy

The top ranked Carrollton Trojans will play host to Woodward Academy this Friday. The Trojans come in with one of the most talented squads from top to bottom in recent memory. They will be lead by star studded Quarterback Juju Lewis and many stars including Corner Dorian Barney, Center Zykie Helton, and many others. They will go up against Woodward Academy who will have their own star studded roster which includes the likes of Receiver trio Josiah Abdullah, Jerome Bettis Jr, and Blake Stewart, and many others. This game will be shown on ESPN 2.

1- 3. Buford at 2. Milton

One of the most highly anticipated matchups in recent memory will come as two of the top teams will face off against each other. Buford will come in after loosing 3 five stars in Dylan Raiola, K.J. Bolden, and Eddrick Houston, however, they still return lots of star including Colorado commit Matrez Walker, Auburn commit Devin Williams, and lots of others. As for Milton, they return after winning 7A last year with Elite 11 finalist Luke Nickel, Tennessee Cornerback commit Dylan Lewis, and stars all around their roster. This game will be broadcated live on GPB Sports if you can not attend in person. If one thing is certain, this one will be must watch TV.
