Georgia is know for some of its top two-way high school players including big name talents that are recognizable to almost any football fan. Currently, down at Portal High School, they have devolved their own Hybrid player; Brian McQueen.
McQueen stands at 5’10 playing both wide receiver and defensive back for Portal. He had a great season for Portal, finishing with 728 all purpose yards (306 rushing and 297 receiving yards) and 6 TDs. On the defensive side, McQueen finished with 2 interceptions, a fumble recovery, and recorded 29 total tackles on the season.
One of his best games of the season came in a 35-0 Portal win. In the game McQueen had 98 all purpose yards and a receiving touchdown on offense, and he recorded a PBU as well as Portal as a team holding the opposing QB to under 50% completion percentage and no touchdowns.
As an Athlete, McQueen has high end speed, burning defenders on numerous occasions. He pairs that with his agility and ability to juke on defenders on a dime. Together it makes him a lethal offensive weapon. Defensively, he displays an strong ability to read quarterbacks which he combines with his speed to keep up with receivers makes him a quarterback’s worst nightmare.
McQueen doesn’t even just play defensive back and wide receiver, as McQueen used to play quarterback. Last season he threw for 283 yards and 4 touchdowns (he also played a little this season).
McQueen also plays varsity basketball for Portal and averaged 9 point per game.
McQueen has reported 3 offers so far from Minnesota North College, Promise Prep Academy, and the South Georgia Huskies.
