Asa Barnes and Omari Sanders are two premier 2027 prospects who have hit the ground running in their young careers. Sanders is a 4 star safety from Franklin Road Academy who holds 30 offers. Asa Evans is a running back from Westview who holds offers from multiple power 4 schools. This past weekend at the Shock doctor Legends Showcase, they updated their recruitment while teaming up to play for Tennessee Select 7v7.

Omari Sanders is listed as high as a top 30 player in the 2027 class. Sanders visited Georgia on Friday for a spring practice visit. “I took away that they are a very strong team,” Sanders told me. UGA currently has no commits in the 2027 class.

Sanders also updated me on his most recent visit to the local Tennessee Volunteers, “my relationships really grew, I feel very strongly about the relationship between me and the coaches.” This was Sanders third visit to the Volunteers before the start of his Junior season and Tennessee was the 10th school to offer him. Sanders also liked the atmosphere at Neyland Stadium.

This Saturday Sanders will be in Columbus to visit Ohio State. Sanders said that he, “wants to see all that Ohio State has to offer; how their program is, how the coaches coach their players, and how the meetings are.

Some of the things that Sanders cited as important in his recruitment are the culture of the team, how they practice, and how they play.

Sanders said that he doesn’t have any leaders in his recruitment yet explaining, “It’s still pretty early, I’m (Sanders) still trying to get out to every school.”

As for Asa Barnes, there are two schools leading his recruitment: Alabama and Ohio State.

Barnes said one of the reasons he likes Ohio State is because they, “show such more love and support,” and “It (Ohio State) really feels like home.” Barnes plans on visiting Ohio State in a couple of weeks. He wants to see the weight room and what he can work on to better himself. Ohio State already has two commits in the 2027 class from 5 star athlete Jamier Brown and 4 star quarterback Brady Edmonds.

Barnes has a personal connection with Alabama as the Crimson Tide being his favorite team. “When I got that offer, I was like this is a dream come true,” said Evans. Barnes told me that his favorite Alabama running is former Heisman winner Derrick Henry. The Crimson Tide have two commits in the 2027 class: 4 star edge JaBarrius Garror and 4 star athlete Alexander Ward.

Barnes also detailed his recent offer from Ole Miss, “it was a nice conversation, I’ve had a couple conversations with him (Ole Miss special teams coordinator Jake Schoonover).

Like Sanders, Barnes is in no hurry to commit saying, “I will probably commit a little before my senior year.
