Kell has produced some of the best players in the state over the past few years. This includes Georgia Tech DB Cedric Franklin, Cincinnati DB Marqavious Saboor, and Arkansas LB Justin Logan. The Longhorns finished last season 7-5 and lost in the second round. One of their key pieces on that run was 2026 DB Jalen Williams.
Williams is a 6’0, 160 pounds corner who is ranked as a 3-star recruit on all 4 major recruiting sites. Williams totaled 39 tackles and 2 interceptions last season (via MaxPreps).
Williams chose Arizona State over at top 5 of NC State, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, and Ole Miss (via Score Atlanta). Williams said that he feels like he related to the ASU staff more than any other school. Specifically citing his connection with cornerback coach Bryan Carrington.
This had been a long time coming, with Williams noting that he knew he wanted to go to Arizona State, “kind of since I visited in February.”
Williams’ message to the ASU fans is, “you’re getting a DOG and a technician. I’m ready to work and contribute.
As for his senior season, Kell has arguably the best DB room in the entire state and passing the ball against them will be near-impossible. Williams is still working on recovering from an injury he sustained last season but looks to be a big part in a potential state championship run with Kell in his senior season. Kell will have their spring game May 15th vs McEachern and will open up next season against South Paulding on August 13th.
