Jame’l Davis is a rising freshman that looks to make an impact in year one at Gainesville High School. Davis plays defensive back and stands at 6’0 and weighs in at about 160 pounds.
Unfortunately, Davis missed all of last season with an injury but has been going strong in 7v7 ball with IVSAxMob. Davis will return to the Red Elephants field this spring as they prepare for their spring game jamboree at Georgia State.
Davis aims to be a shutdown corner by focusing on technique, speed, and football IQ. Whether by excelling in man-to-man coverage or by reading the quarterback, Davis wants to minimize big plays as much as he can.
Davis has a few main goals for the upcoming season which includes earning a starting spot on Varsity, gaining his first offer, totaling 40+ tackles, and having 3-5 interceptions.
Off the field Davis wants to maintain a 4.0 GPA as well as getting stronger in the weight room.
Davis is looking forward to competing with Gainesville saying, “I’m really looking forward to competing with such a loaded Gainesville team. It’s an amazing opportunity to learn from and compete alongside some of the best players in the state. My main goal this season is to prove myself and show Georgia who I am. I’m here because I love to compete, and I love Gainesville’s hardworking tradition. I have a lot of respect for the coaching staff and what they bring to the table — their leadership and focus on development motivate me to be my best.
As previously mentioned, Gainesville will play in a spring jamboree on May 15th, however, their spring practices will start on April 29th. Led by Coach Josh Niblett Gainesville is ready to take on any challenge they face next season.
