Hello Baseball fans, Pope and Lassiter finished up their regular seasons in a tough matchup that will surely help both going into playoffs.
I was blessed by God to attend this matchup as these two looked to lock two more wins in the win column.
Pope took an early one nothing lead after Junior Cayden Campbell knocked in Florida State commit John Stuetzer on an RBI single. Ben Hill doubled the Greyhound lead on a sacrifice bunt.
Lassiter was not going to go away easy as they got on the board following a wild pitch in the second inning.
Sophomore Luke Winbush extended the Pope lead in the third inning with a RBI double. Lassiter denied Pope a second run in the third when Quinn Hughes made an excellent throw from center field that prohibited a sac-fly. At the end of three innings, Pope led 3-1
Winbush notched another RBI to his name on a sac-bunt, which extended Pope’s lead to 4-1. Pope added another when Matt Levinson knocked in Winbush.
“This team is has a bond like no other” John Stuetzer said following the game “if we trust in our coaches we will make a great run.
Pope closed it out with a 5-1 win as the lock in the number one seed in their region heading into playoffs.
My player of the game is John Stuetzer who went 2-3 and scored in the first inning.
Playoffs are still to be determined, but it except to see both of these teams going far.
