2027 is going to be one of the best years for Georgia in many years. Lots of talent filling up many positions, all before any of them are even upperclassmen. Defensive backs have been one of the key positions in the class. There are a multitude of 4 and 3 stars, of which includes Ethan Hauser, Adryan Cole, and MJ Burnett. I caught up with the three about their recruitments and more below.
MJ Burnett (SAF) Walton
MJ Burnett has been one of the fastest rising safeties in the state over the past few months. Burnett is the son of former NFL champion Morgan Burnett, who is now his safeties coach at Walton.
Burnett tallied 47 tackles last season for Walton (via MaxPreps) while playing along side Air Force commit Ethan Stannard.
Burnett says his goal for the season is to become a better tackler and getting more takeaways.
Walton will open up next season against McEachern in the Corky Kell Classic.
As for his recruitment, Burnett has earned offers from the likes of both USC’s, Georgia Tech, and Indiana, amongst many others.
“The key to my recruitment is a school I can build a good relationship with and that I can see myself living there,” Burnett told me.
One school to watch is Georgia Tech as that is where his father played back in the day.
“Georgia Tech is a favorite because I have been going there since I was a kid,” Burnett added.
He also spoke to me about his recent offer from Southern California, “USC was an exciting experience. I’ve always had a liking to USC and LA.”
Ethan Hauser (Corner) Buford
Buford has always been a talent factory in the peach state. The Wolves have produced plenty of defensive backs over the past few years. Ethan Hauser is next up on that list.
Ethan Hauser has now totaled 21 offers from many group of 5 and power four schools.
Some of the schools Hauser listed as schools he has enjoyed visiting over the last few months are UGA, Tennessee, Georgia Tech, Florida, etc.
He continued on to talk about Georgia Tech, “GT is pretty great, I always feel at home when I’m around Coach Peoples and Coach Q.”
Tennessee is another leader in his recruitment. UT was the first to offer Hauser back over a year ago.
“UT stands out because they are definitely led by a great group of coaches. I have two former teammates at Tennessee, and they always talk about how great it is.”
Hauser is looking forward to next year and taking the field with his teammates at Buford.
Hauser is also looking forward to the new stadium at Buford.
“We have not seen the inside yet, but just from the outside alone it looks incredible.”
Adryan Cole (SAF) Pace Academy
Cole has been one of the top players in the state since his freshman year. Cole has 40 offers from almost everywhere in the country.
Some of the schools that have an early lead on Cole are Georgia, Florida, Miami, and Ohio State, along with a few others. Cole has visits in the work with the four mentioned.
Cole described a few of the keys to his recruitment, “I want to be somewhere that feels like family, where I am supported academically and personally. I want to go somewhere I can grow on the field, be coached hard, and get prepared for the NFL.”
Cole also mentioned a 15 minute conversation he had with Georgia’s Kirby Smart and a conversation with Miami defensive pass game coordinator Zac Etheridge as moments that have stuck with him.
As for Pace Academy, Cole is focused on winning a state championship. Pace is coming off a 4-6 season, lead by many top players including Justin Weeks and Tim Anthony along with Cole.
