Lawrence Sanford lead Cherokee back to the state title game last season for the first time in over 40 years. He has been one of the top scorers in Georgia over his 3 years in high school so far. This past season he helped Cherokee back to the state playoffs falling in the first round.

However, he has made the decision to transfer to AZ Compass Prep school, an elite prep school in Arizona.

A rising senior Sanford holds offers from Kennesaw State, Georgia State, and the University of South Florida.

He averaged around 30 points per game this past season for the Warriors. Including a 3rd place game for Cherokee in which he had 28 points 6 rebounds 3 assists and 2 blocks in a win over Osborne. He also doesn’t shih away from big moments dropping 27 points vs eventually semifinalist Wheeler where Cherokee almost pulled off a win, losing 79-75. He also joined the 1000 points club this past season in under 3 seasons at Cherokee. His biggest performance of the season came in aa 40 point effort where he almost out scored North Cobb by himself (they had 45).

Next season he will join a roster headlined by 3 star class of 2025 guard Cam Miles and 4 star class of 2025 guard Jeremiah Fears. As a guard himself it will be a grind for Sanford, but he has shown us that he is not afraid of the challenge.
